The background to the creation of PLUMP lies in the recent acceleration of the "wide rim trend." Fatter tires are increasingly being chosen for fixed-gear bikes, and modern riders are not just confined to city streets; a growing number are embracing adventure styles, including gravel and tracklocross.
Unlike the WIVER rim—which focuses on "speed and lightness" as introduced in yesterday's BROTURES TRACK HUB V2 release blog—we wanted to create a rim that can accommodate wider tires, is tough, and is hard to break. This desire sparked the development of the PLUMP.
As the name "PLUMP" suggests, we calculated the silhouette even when a wide tire is mounted, pursuing a shape that enhances the overall aesthetic cohesion of the setup.
So, how does PLUMP differ from other rims? A key feature of its design is the adoption of a Box Section structure.
The wide box construction suppresses lateral flex, resulting in a "tough rim" that is resistant to the side loads encountered during landings and sharp turns on rough, obstacle-ridden roads, or when performing skids in the city. We intentionally sacrificed some weight and aerodynamic resistance to strictly focus on durability.
From tricks and cyclocross to light dirt trails, PLUMP's appeal is its "manageable strength"—designed for those who want the freedom to fully enjoy the street.
This rim is better suited for riders who seek security and a comfortable ride rather than pure speed.

Sandblast Finish for Durability
The classic black color features a Sandblast Finish.
To achieve a slightly rugged, subdued texture and establish superior durability, we finished the black color using sandblasting—a surface processing technique where abrasives are blown at high speed.
Creating microscopic irregularities on the surface improves the adhesion of the anodized color and offers many advantages, such as removing rust and dirt, stripping paint, preparing a base coat, and reducing frictional resistance. This technique is widely used in many industrial products. This choice further underscores our intention that "PLUMP is specialized for durability."
