Cinelli Mash Parallax Review

Hey everyone, Junki here. My new favorite bike frame has finally arrived!

Introducing the Cinelli Mash Parallax - ¥120,000 (EX. TAX)

Introducing the latest collaboration between Italy's renowned bike brand, Cinelli, and San Francisco's legendary fixed-gear crew, Mash. The new Parallax frame is here, and I'm totally getting one.

Design and Features

Unlike the previous releases like the Histogram and Bolt, the Parallax features a horizontal top tube design. The head tube has a tapered design, commonly seen on Dosnoventa frames, with a 1-1/8 inch top and a 1-1/2 inch bottom.

The frame's visuals continue the iconic Cinelli Mash gradient but with a unique twist, featuring symbolic black and white bands of varying thicknesses. The fork comes in a striking purple, while the stays are in bold red and blue. The bold color scheme and eccentric design really make it stand out.

Premium Materials

The tubing is Columbus "Airplane" with 7005 aluminum triple-butted tubes. Here's the geometry you've been curious about:

  • The fork offset (at the R mark) is 28mm, which is the track geometry focus that Leader also emphasizes. Compared to the Histogram's 35mm, this one is more compact and quick handling. Super Corsa and Vigorelli also have a 35mm offset, showing a distinct preference for this design.
  • The seat angle is nicely upright. Although I initially thought a sloping frame like the Vigorelli would look cooler, the more upright stance of this frame won me over.

Building the Parallax

Once assembled, it looks something like this:

I'm really excited to build this one. It's been a while since I built a bike for myself. Budget constraints mean the full assembly will take some time, but planning the parts is the most fun part!

I have a lot of options in mind, and I want to take my time deciding. Mizu told me that I can't just assemble it in a standard way – I need to add a twist. No pressure, right?

Final Thoughts

The design might be polarizing, but it'll grow on you. For those who, like me, enjoy standing out with something different, this frame is perfect. I'll have my work-in-progress at the store, so if you're curious, come by and check it out!
